In year 2015, we went on a company trip to Korea with Roger Yue & Associates. It was one of the best experiences of our life! We got to see the amazing history, culture and nature of Korea. Here are some of the highlights of our trip:
Exploring the Royal Palace in Seoul
We visited the Gyeongbokgung Palace, the biggest and most beautiful palace in Seoul. It was built by the kings of the Joseon Dynasty, who ruled Korea for over 500 years. We learned about their stories and how they fought against invaders. We also dressed up in traditional Korean clothes, called hanbok, and took pictures like royalty.
Making and Tasting Kimchi
We went to a kimchi-making workshop, where we learned how to make this famous spicy cabbage dish. Kimchi is very healthy and tasty. It is eaten with almost every meal in Korea. We had fun mixing the cabbage with garlic, chili, salt and other ingredients. We packed them into jars and waited for them to ferment. We also tried different kinds of kimchi, such as radish, cucumber and green onion.
Flying to Jeju Island
We took a flight to Jeju Island, a paradise island with volcanoes and waterfalls. We saw the Hallasan Mountain, the highest mountain in Korea and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was covered with snow and looked majestic. We also visited the Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, a huge crater formed by a volcanic eruption. We woke up early and watched the sunrise from the peak. It was breathtaking!
Experiencing the Farm Life
We joined a farm experience program, where we learned about the rural life in Korea. We picked carrots, fed sheep, and made chocolate from fresh milk. It was so fun and relaxing. We also enjoyed a yummy barbecue lunch with local delicacies, such as black pork and abalone.
Trying Various Korean Dishes
We tried many delicious Korean dishes, such as bibimbap, bulgogi, tteokbokki, and gimbap. But our favorite was the anchovies, which are small fish that are dried, fried or boiled in sauce. They are crunchy and savory, and go well with rice or beer. We ate them most of days!
We had a blast on this trip and we are so grateful to Roger Yue & Associates for this opportunity. We learned so much about Korea and made some unforgettable memories. We hope to visit again someday and explore more of this amazing country.
